Mrs Rachel Cam
I have been a Parent Governor since January 2015. I am married to Mark and we have one son, Jamie. Mark and I moved to Congleton in 1999 having lived in Longton since we got married in 1996. After High School in East Yorkshire, I went to Chester to do my degree and originally trained to be a primary school teacher, with my main subject being Drama and Theatre Studies. I went on to live and work in a Mencap College in North Wales as a residential tutor. From there I went on to do the Diploma in Social Work at Bangor University.
I work full time as a social worker in the Adults team in Macclesfield. The majority of my work is with adults with learning disabilities, including young people in transition from school, and I feel passionately about ensuring children with learning disabilities are integrated into mainstream schools wherever possible. I also work with student social workers.
I am a member of New Life Church where I teach a pre-school group at Sunday's Cool, and get involved with Messy Church. I am also an Approved Matron (or Chaperone) for Children in Entertainment, which means I supervise children involved in shows at Daneside Theatre, and have had the pleasure of supervising a number of current and former Black Firs children in various shows.
