Spring Term

This term we are reading a book called 'The Weirdstone of Brisingamen' by Alan Garner. It is set in Alderley Edge and tells the story of two children, Colin and Susan, and their encounters with some weird and wonderful characters!

Some of our writing will be based around the story and we will also be visiting the story's setting - the forests of The Edge.

The children will complete an independent project focusing on an aspect of the Congleton area.

Autumn Term

This term we are reading a book called Street Child by Berlie Doherty. It is set in London during the 1860s and tells the story of Jim Jarvis, a homeless orphan who ends up in a workhouse. London in the 1860s is a dangerous and lonely place for a small boy and life is a constant battle for survival. We follow Jim through a series of exciting adventures as he tries to gain his freedom.
Some of our writing will be based around the story and we will also be learning about life during Victorian times. This will include two days experiencing life in a Victorian classroom!
This term our annual visit to the Conway Centre takes place in October, and in December the children will be performing in the School Pantomime.
